As you’ve probably noticed, most of my funny juice has dried up lately. I just can’t get it together to write anything half-assedly entertaining. So, in lieu of actual content, I bring you 3 moments with a wee person infinitely more entertaining than her mother:
1) We have rearranged our dining room so that there is a large carpeted area where the kids can play, because I just couldn’t live with having one corner of our home untouched by mountains of plastic toys. Anyway, Elliot now calls this area her stage. Every day as I’m feeding Arlo lunch, she gives us dinner and a show. Arlo loves it. He tries valiantly not to disrupt the show by choking on his food while laughing.

What’s she doin’, mama? Look at her tongue – I think the devil has taken hold of her.
Yesterday, Elliot announced to Arlo, “Come in the eating room and see my show. I have so many new dances to show you!” Then, as is the routine, she made up songs that you would only understand if you were high while she danced around using a broomstick as a baton.
She only gets shy when asked if I can record her dances. “No thanks. I’m fine.”
2) Clearly someone needs to lower her dosage of Mary Poppins:
Jay: Tell mommy what you were just doing.
Elliot: I just eating sugar.
Jay: With a spoon…
Elliot: Yup.
Jay: Why?
Elliot: Because it’s healthy for me. You wanna spoonful of sugar, daddy?
Jay: No.
Elliot: Why not? It’s good for the whole family.
3) She’ll make you laugh. She’ll make you cry.
Last night before bed…
Elliot: You had to go to work tomorrow daddy?
Jay: Yes.
Elliot: I don’t want you go to work. I miss you when you at work.
Jay: I miss you too, but I have to go.
Elliot: Why?
Jay: Because we need the money.
Elliot: Pointing to her dad’s stash of coins on his dresser – maybe $3 in total. But we had lots of money here. That’s all we need.

Your kids are the CUTEST. Both of them.
Great pictures/anecdotes. And who cares if you feel funny. Some of us like reading your thoughts regardless of the humor factor.
Out of the mouths of Babes…
Just proves my theory that people have kids for comic relief.
Oh, she’s such a cutie. And I totally covet your corner book shelf.
Seriously – the stage. Good Stuff, Elliot, Good Stuff.
(and btw – LOVE the books shelves….)
Oh my…she’s just brilliant, isn’t she?
The last one made me cry! If only we could all have that simplicity in our thought – we’d be a lot better off!
i love those cheeks! all 4 of them.
Clearly Elliot’s concept of the value of money is from about 100 years ago. Maybe her and Uncle Tony could go back in time and live in the good old days that he keeps referring to…
Bahaha, she really sounds like a riot! The look on Arlo’s face by the way is totally priceless!
Oh…and I covet you bookshelves
Okay…delicious kiddos, delicious stories. I love when the big ones set out to entertain the little ones. It’s so much fun to witness!
I love the way their little minds work. Aah if only we could exist on about $3…
Such cute kiddos
What cuties! And that last one made tear up a little. What a kind heart, Elliot is knowledgeable beyond her years:)
So sweet
We have a “stage” just like that at our house, too! Except it’s surrounded by a tall fence and we call it “the pen” (just kidding.)
Elliot sounds like a blast. I’ll bet she’d have a ball with the V-meister, who recently informed me that she would like to use the money in her piggy bank to buy a school bus.
What do you mean “in lieu of actual content”? This is fabulous content! You’re kids are adorable.
Oh, to be a kid and think $3 is a lot of money. *sigh*
Cute Cute Cute!
And I love your bookshelves!
uhm sooo sweet!! and i must agree w/ everyone else – i heart your bookshelves!!
I want to come over for lunch…see you soon!
Also, I LOVE the color of your walls! What is that color???!!!
cute! She reminds me of Chicken. I think if Giggles was the younger one I would have two show stoppers….but Giggles thinks Chicken is nuts. I think Arlo is entertained enough that he may join in soon!
If it only took $3, Wally wouldn’t work either. Oh to live in kids’ world.
Cute! I agree she needs a stage, she’s sure cute enough for it.
Too cute! I used to put my baby’s swing in my older daughter’s room because the dancing entertained him. Or put him to sleep!
That last line made me teary!
While I love those pics of your kids–especially that funny girl you have there–those bookshelves make me drool! I love them!
Elliot’s mere presence charms us all!
Aw, what a sweetie. It’s so funny when kids start to grasp the concept of money- but still NOT grasp it.
Way too cute!
Aw, sweet. We had a stage in our living room (the entranceway) that daughter would even hang curtains on for her “shows”. We had to dutifully sit in chairs lined up in a row, after paying our admission (pretend money) and applaud at the end…. wow, that seems so long ago (she’s 16 now).
Oh, and BTW, you need more books
I had no idea that when I posted this, that you would even notice the bookshelves. They are 2 separate shelves that we arranged to look like one big corner bookshelf. We got them at Home Depot of all places.
Oh, and Teri? Did you happen to notice that my walls are orange?
She’s willing to share her sugar?
You’re obviously raisin’ her up RIGHT.
I love her little bangs. haha. And the dancing, why won’t they do it for video? Allie refuses also.
