I don’t know if I announced it or anything, but I’ve stopped doing memes. If you’ve tagged me in the last few months, please pardon my jackassery. I’ve decided to blog without obligation and I just don’t feel like doing them right now. I started this blog to record my thoughts and life’s little moments and memes were taking up way too much of my writing/real-life time. That said, if I’m at a complete loss for inspiration and feel like writing something, I may do the odd one just for the hell of it.
Anyhow, many people have been so kind as to send some linky love my way recently and I’ve repaid the favor by sitting like a doughy lump. Nice, aren’t I? So, even though I have a blogroll (it’s in the Linky Goodness tab above – are you on there? Or are you missing? If you think you should be there and aren’t, please leave me a comment), I haven’t shared any links in a long time (many pardons, my Technorati-loving friends).
One of the things that makes blogging so great is the sense of community. I didn’t expect to really connect with anyone after starting my blog, so imagine my surprise when I found so many like-minded people who now mean more to me than I ever could have imagined possible. So, thank you for living in my internet neighborhood. Here’s a list of bloggers who make my day every day by making me laugh, leaving me breathless with their writing talent, and/or by hanging around here and leaving me the greatest comments.
Firstly, the Queen of All Things Bloggy including the Almighty Link:
Oh the Joys – When I first started blogging, I did it largely in isolation. I had heard all about this community of women bloggers, but had no idea how to find bloggers like me. Then, Jess, linked to me and a number of other women who I immediately connected with. I am indebted to her for helping me to find my small internet family and a handful of true kindred spirits. Oh, and did I mention that she’s hilarious? I’m sure you have no idea who she is.
The originals (girls I’ve palled around with for a long time – you know, in internet time)
Arkie Mama – She’s a real-live journalist so she has some amazing stories. Also as sweet as can be.
Blooming Marvelous – Love her. That is all.
Chicken and Cheese and Slouching Past 40 – These women are my writing mentors. They write almost every day and their posts never suck. This amazes me. They both have this way of making the mundane seem spectacular. And they are upstanding internet citizens.
Mamma Loves – Mamma is awesome. It’s as simple as that.
Meanwhile – Another amazing writer (and she just recently got accepted into a Creative Writing Masters program!) and one of my bestest online buddies.
Moosh in Indy – Casey is brutally honest and crazy funny. Adorable with an equally adorable kid. Love her to death.
Playgroups Are No Place For Children – Ah, Jennifer. What can I say. She and I went through the hell-on-earth miraculous time that is having a toddler and a newborn baby together. We’ve been inseparable ever since. Oh, and she compulsively blogs pretty much every day and never fails to make me laugh. Even though her and Casey have hit the bloggy big-time, they still speak to the likes of me.
The Queen of Shake Shake – Because no one can write about vuh jay jays and farts like she can.

I’m not on there but I’ve been remiss on commenting lately so I decided to comment on everyone today. So hello! Hope you’re having a good day!
Thanks for the linky-love darlin’, it’s good to be back. Not good that I have about a zillion unread posts in my reader, but good to be back.
And here’s to obligation-free blogging! Hurray!
Right back atcha, Andi. I wish I wish I wish I could come to BlogHer this year.
Thank you for these kind words. I heart you, too.
Oh, but Lilacspecs, this is only Part 1. And guess who’s name is already on the draft of Part 2?

Woowhee! I can’t believe I made the list!
I too have decided to blog without obligation and at times feel the jackassry. Thank you for letting me know I’m not alone.
Why thank you!!!
And right back ‘atcha!
Am about to check out today’s links … must add to the list of reads…
Jackassery is my new favorite word.
I haven’t done a meme in a long time; you’re right. You shouldn’t feel obligated to participate… I hope people who tag me understand it’s just not what I want to write about at this time. I think the majority of taggers DO understand it’s not for everyone.
Love to you!!
